Google Chrome Build Research Center in Taiwan
Google has set up a software development center in Taipei. This research center aims to facilitate Google is working with Chrome-based laptop makers in Asia.
“This research center will play an important role in supporting the laptop makers, as well as a Google effort to reach more companies behind the project its operating system,” said Senior Vice President of Google Chrome, Sundar Pichai.
Mentioned by Pichai, Google initially run Chrome entirely from its headquarters in Mountain View, California, United States (U.S.). But now the Internet giant was aware that his OS would be more powerful if it supported more laptop designers and vendors.
Why Google Chrome decided to establish a research center in Taiwan? According Pichai, this is because Taiwan is the headquarters of the designer and laptop vendors. Companies such as Foxconn, Quanta and Compal example, designing and making the laptop under contract reputable companies who then sell it back to use their brand.
“We’ve recruited many engineers and looking for more people to be employed during the year ahead, to reach destinations in Taiwan,” Pichai said.
